Position Specific Responsibilities and Accountabilities
The Senior Regulatory Trade Advisor in the Regulatory Policy & Advisory Group in New York will be responsible for the provision of regulatory advisory services to our businesses divisions as well as the correct and consistent application of U.S. Basel 3 regulations to individual transactions.
The focus of the work will be to:
Provide pre-execution regulatory advisory services to our businesses divisions, supporting the development of products and solutions for clients on business and transaction level
Advise our businesses on the structuring of complex transactions with a view to reaching sustainable outcomes, take the ultimate decision on their regulatory treatment and provide related capital consumption estimates
Provide regulatory sign-offs as part of the Finance approval process for new types of products and transactions
Monitor and assess changes to the EU and U.S. regulatory framework and communicate them to senior management, control functions and business divisions
Maintain ongoing interactions with business divisions, other Finance functions, Risk and Legal
Develop and provide education and training to businesses and control functions
Previous relevant work experience in a similar role within a global universal or investment bank, audit or consultancy firm or with regulatory authorities
Knowledge of existing EU or U.S. banking regulations, especially in the area of risk-based capital, leverage, liquidity coverage and net stable funding requirements
Comprehensive experience with complex structured transactions and knowledge of all types of universal and investment banking products
An understanding of accounting rules and their relevance to the regulatory framework
The regulatory treatment of complex transactions requires a careful understanding and analysis of the transaction structure
Understanding the economic substance and purpose of a complex transaction
Analyze and conclude on the regulatory treatment of the transaction within RPAG's mandate
Document and explain the conclusions to stakeholders, including in business divisions, infrastructure functions and senior management
Identify related reputational risk aspects and escalate accordingly
Degree educated at university/college level, ideally in business administration, law, finance or science
An expert in EU or U.S. Basel 3 regulatory requirements. This includes technical knowledge of the EU Capital Requirements Regulation (CRR) and the U.S. Basel III Final Rule as well as related regulations and regulatory pronouncements and interpretations
Experienced in communicating complex regulatory matters both verbally and in writing to internal and external stakeholders at senior levels
Excellent in analyzing and resolving complex regulatory issues in a timely and reliable manner
Able to express in writing opinions on complex regulatory matters
