The litigation team provides the continental headquarter in Frankfurt and its branches in Italy, Spain, Sweden and Finland with support on all contentious issues
Work ranges from advice on jurisdiction and governing law clauses, to input on the early stages of a potential dispute, to running complex litigations or arbitrations to final determination and appeal
The candidate's role will include work on a range of investigations, including competition and other regulatory matters
The candidate's role will be to support the current corporate lawyers in London in all matters that relate to German law and its branches and to take responsibility for the respective caseload
The candidate in question will also need to be willing to assist the team with general commercial and regulatory legal matters as necessary
Qualified lawyer in Germany (Syndikusanwalt) with experience in Banking / finance industry
The candidate will typically have trained at a well-known private practice firm and should have a genuine desire to move in-house. As such, previous in-house experience, particularly at a financial institution, would be an advantage.
The candidate will need to be comfortable working on a wide range of matters, including civil law cases across different jurisdictions
This will require the candidate to work with other colleagues in Legal and Compliance (in particular colleagues on the transactional side), to deal regularly with the business and to brief senior management as appropriate
The candidate should be a confident and strong communicator, with an ability to work with a wide range of individuals across the business, including senior management
The candidate should be a good team player, but have the ability and confidence to manage matters autonomously where appropriate
