FCTM harnesses intelligence, analytics, technology, investigation, information sharing, and public-private partnership to achieve this end, always seeking the most effective and efficient means. FCTM is also partnering with Financial Crime Compliance to build the case for a more efficient and effective regulatory approach by defining a potential new regulatory landscape based on practical, tested innovation and serving as a thought leader in the ongoing public debate on the future of regulatory compliance . We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join this team in the role of Senior Investigations Manager .
The jobholder is responsible for undertaking country and regional investigations, assisting with annual budgeting, case recording and the proactive detection of risk factors which may lead to them.
Very considerable sums are involved in terms of fraud losses, detections and Financial Crimes. Whilst the level and complexity of investigations can vary depending on the nature of cases, potential losses and impact to HSBC can be substantial and the need for skilled prompt action to maximise recoveries and prevent risk is paramount. Additionally the jobholder has to manage reputational and regulatory risks.
The jobholder will often work alone without day-to-day supervision: independence and self-reliance are features of the role.
Investigations may be undertaken in small ad hoc teams, and occasionally additional resources may be provided by, the business itself, sometimes working under the direction of the jobholder.
Produce high quality reports and which identify emerging trends and themes relating to financial crime risk in the first and second lines of defence.
Staff investigations will be conducted to standards compliant with employment law, together with a full appreciation of where relevant and possible to be compliant with criminal law and industry best practices. Failure to reach these standards could result in the bank being subject to unlimited claim at an Employment Tribunal or compromise the relevant police authority being able to implement criminal proceedings.
Engage relevant functions within the Group, region and country in order to support the execution of the Specialised Task Force strategy. Develop a risk-based approach for conducting complex, in-depth reviews across the first and second lines of defence.
Assess the effectiveness of financial crime controls of the Function and the lines of business to identify and report any gaps or deficiencies
Expeditiously escalate Identified financial crime risks in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Discharge the relevant accountabilities as set out in the Group Standards Manual and Compliance FIM.
Excellent understanding of financial crime methodologies' and knowledge of data analytics
Demonstrable leadership experience in a large organisation
Demonstrable interest in and knowledge of current affairs and security matters
Ability to produce succinct and pertinent reporting
Ability to work autonomously under pressure of tight deadlines
Ability to formulate, disseminate and implement strategy
Ability to think creatively to solve complex problems
Ability to develop efficient and effective solutions to complex global issues.
Awareness of regulatory and in-house operating environment and potential impact on function
Excellent communication and inter-personal skills, with experience of dealing with executives at all levels
