My client is a successful and growing private FinTec firm, formed in 2011 by some well known senior quants in the market. They specialise in the provision of risk management tools to the financial industry. They have rapid growth plans over the next five years, providing solutions to financial institutions across the globe, in all asset classes. Solutions are built within Amazon Web Services, leveraging high performance compute analytics and cost-effective elastic scaling.
The firm has recently signed two major hedge funds in Hong Kong, which means they are in need of additional resources in terms of technology and day-to-day support.
Therefore, they are looking for a senior Quant with managerial experience who is interested in building out their own team in Hong Kong
Ideally, you would be an experienced VP/ED level Quant at one of the major investment banks who are started to manage projects and small teams, but is looking to make the next step in terms of a personal career move and responsibility.
Demonstration of entrepreneurial drive, whether in your current position or extra-curricular activities is strongly appreciated
Proficiency in the following areas is desired:
Trade knowledge: from the most vanilla (e.g. futures) to the highly exotic (e.g. multi-asset performance based auto-callables). Front office exposure to real world hedging strategies, and their limitations, is expected.
Financial modelling: a strong track record of developing and managing the development of derivative pricing models is essential. Front office experience at a tier one fund/bank would be expected.
Market data: the platform supports six different asset classes (equity, rates, fixed income, fx, credit, commodities), with end of day market data available 'out of the box'. A working knowledge of overnight marking and data management is therefore desirable.
Coding skills: C++, C# or a related language (Python, Matlab, Java). All members of the company are actively involved in the development of the platform (including the CEO). Being able to guide juniors through best coding practices, including usability, robustness and testing, is also essential.
Managerial skills: Management of a small team, or at the very least, several major projects, is critical. A successful candidate should be able to work independently of the London team, and develop new projects and directions in accordance with the demands of clients. Experience in training and guiding juniors, as well as client and project management, are all key skills in this category.
