RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS Duties: Associate-Research with Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC in New York, NY. Work closely with trading, sales, and other strategies teams to establish efficient data flows and design systems to satisfy the requirements of latency-sensitive, high-volume trading systems. Contribute to the design and development of new trade execution algorithms. Work closely with core infrastructure engineers to evaluate and adopt emerging technologies for improving performance and reliability. Create robust technology infrastructure to build efficient and scalable systems allowing continued growth in transaction volumes and trading frequencies. Implement, review, and test systems built for clients, trading, and sales. Participate in and contribute to system design sessions. Produce maintainable, well-documented software. Actively monitor real-time performance and diagnose issues with trading systems. Serve as a functional and technical liaison between trading, sales, technology, and operations when driving the software realization of new business initiatives.
Job Requirements: Master's or Bachelor's degree (U.S. or equivalent) in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or related quantitative field. Two (2) years of experience (with Master's) or five (5) years of experience (with Bachelor's) in the job offered or in a related quantitative finance position. Prior work experience must include two (2) years with Master's or five (5) years with Bachelor's: designing and developing large, robust distributed trading systems; developing high-performance, multi-threaded trading systems using object-oriented programming languages such as C++ or Java on Windows or Unix; profiling and improving high-volume trading system performance; maintaining, manipulating, and analyzing large data sets with database query languages, programming languages, and data management tools; interfacing with traders and compliance officers to understand trading issues and regulatory requirements, partnering in developing solutions, translating requirements to technical designs, and periodically presenting product updates.
