The Analyst position is in the EMEA Banking Group and more particularly focuses on all bank and non-bank financial institution in the African region. The key responsibility of the Analyst is to ensure the rating quality and management of a portfolio of banks and financial institutions in the sub-Sahara Africa region.
Manage and maintain a portfolio of bank and non-bank financial institutions
Perform and present in-depth fundamental credit analysis on a regular basis to rating committees to assign and maintain credit ratings for use in the bond and bank capital markets
Perform analysis of bond and loan documents
Defend your opinions and present findings persuasively
Write in-depth, high quality, insightful and focused research on credit trends, specific issuers or bank systems as a whole
Participate in regular outreach events, such as investor briefings, teleconferences, conferences, third party presentations and media interviews
Moodys Investors Service Ltd Financial Institutions Group (FIG) Banking
Financial credit analysis or related experience
Knowledge of economic and banking sector trends in emerging markets, with current knowledge of African financial systems a key asset
Good understanding of complex financial transaction/structures, with a sound grasp of local and international legal documentation and accounting treatment
Good understanding of African financial institutions' regulatory environment (primary area of expertise on banks, with good understanding of finance and insurance companies)
Good quantitative aptitude and proven analytical skills
Well developed verbal and written communication skills
Good IT competency skills including advance Excel and PowerPoint
International work experience
Strong academic background at least equivalent to MSc/MBA in relevant areas
CIMA /ACCA/CFA professional qualification would be highly beneficial
Sound judgement - capable of developing independent opinion and defending own views
Good communication skills - able to communicate clearly and succinctly, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to build strong professional relationships at all levels and represent the Moody's brand
Proactive/"can do" approach to work
Ability to deal with a multitude of tasks and issuers
