The Church of England Pensions Board provides retirement services for those who have served or worked for the Church. It is the Trustee of four pension schemes, and administers pensions for over 38,000 people working for more than 450 employers. In addition, it is a charity which houses around 2500 retired clergy and their dependants, mainly through the provision of affordable rental housing, shared ownership, and supported living schemes. Pensions and charitable funds under investment total in excess of £2.3bn, and the Pensions Board actively engages with companies it invests in, in line with its ethical investment policies.
The Pensions Board is now seeking to appoint an exceptional Chief Executive to lead the organisation through the next critical stage in its development. As Chief Executive, under your leadership, the Board will further develop its strategy and mission and carry it through with confidence and vigour. Adopting a robust customer-focused and business-minded approach to running the organisation, you will ensure that it works to the highest possible professional standards and delivers excellent value for money.
Our new Chief Executive will be a proven leader and a natural ambassador, with a track record in board level senior management, delivering outstanding performance in a complex organisation. You will be able to demonstrate the ability to shape and deliver corporate strategy, business and financial planning, to lead and develop high performing teams and drive high quality and efficient performance. This role requires an enterprising and creative thinker, with a commercial eye, acute political sensitivity and judgement and the intellectual rigour and relationship skills to be credible and influential with a diverse board and with all our key stakeholders.
