Jefferies provides research and execution services in equity, fixed income, foreign exchange, futures and commodities markets, and a full range of investment banking services including underwriting, merger and acquisition, restructuring and recapitalisation.
Wealth Management is Jefferies' business that looks after the needs of wealthy individuals and small institutions. The business employs a team of 30 ranging from experienced senior client advisers to sales analysts and assistants. Services offered include discretionary portfolio management, advisory services and market execution.
Wealth Management is looking to appoint a Business Risk Manager to oversee controls, compliance with procedures, regulations and best practice. The individual will assist with the creation and delivery of robust procedures, devise and monitor appropriate controls and develop and deliver management information.
The individual will report to the COO of Wealth Management who is head of the business in London.
The key responsibilities are:
Oversight of the Wealth Management control environment (1st line of defence)
Development of robust procedures
Design of appropriate controls
Deliver management information
Remediate and educate where necessary
The following skills and experience are required for this role:
Educated to degree level
Experience of working within a Financially regulated environment
Experience of working in a regulatory reporting / policy department
Proven knowledge of the UK regulatory framework including requirements in the FCA's Handbooks.
Good communication skills
Analytical and numerate with strong technical skills
Working and contributing within a team environment
Excellent written and presentation skills
Effective and confident communication of technical subject matter
Comfortable working in a dynamic, changing and ever evolving environment
Ability to work independently and assume responsibility for project deliverables
Knowledge of financial products including fixed income, commodity and equity products (cash and derivatives)
