Who We Are: The firm is a Jersey City, NJ based start-up investment advisor of a quantitative driven hedge fund. Our strategies deployed will include high-frequency trading and statistical arbitrage with a focus on emerging markets. We will trade across equities, futures, options, and FX utilizing both cash and derivatives.
Key Tasks: Set up financial reporting systems and internal control environment Oversee processing of fund administrator's monthly net asset value and investor allocation calculations Oversee production of annual financial statements Partnership accounting and investor financial information/reporting Perform all Performance Fee calculations (including billing), performance composites and fund track record information Oversight of year-end audits Oversight of tax compliance and investor tax statements (K-1's) Development of business planning, budgets and forecasts Review daily reconciliation of fund cash balances, positions, performance, payables and receivables, and shareholder records and activity prepared by the Administrator and Prime Brokers Manage collateral and cash management Compliance of Accounting Policies and Procedures with industry best practices Bill payment and journal entries using QuickBooks Responsible for all regulatory reporting for an SEC and CFTC registered entity including Form ADV, Form PF, etc. Liaise with Trading and IR on ad-hoc requests Assist on HR matters including payroll, benefits, etc.
Skill Requirements: Leadership Strong communication skills In-depth knowledge and experience with equities, futures, and other derivatives and their accounting Detail-oriented, with a "hands-on" and "no task is too small" attitude Strong knowledge and use of desktop applications (Excel, Word, Powerpoint) Proficiency in accounting applications such as QuickBooks
Background Requirements: 7-12 years plus progressive accounting experience CPA strongly preferred Prior hedge fund experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller or similar role Public accounting experience a plus Strong working knowledge of MS Excel Strong sense of personal responsibility and ownership of projects and tasks assigned Highly organized and detail oriented Self-motivated Impeccable integrity
