We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join this team in the role of Senior Manager Global Markets Operations.
Principal Responsibilities The Head of Markets Operations, Malaysia reports locally to the Chief Financial Officer and has a functional reporting line to the region. The incumbent is responsible to lead Operations team that supports the Global Markets business in the country. The Global Markets business has a full product suite across spanning - Money Market, FX, Rates, Derivatives and Capital Markets and is offered through 3 local entities - HSBC Bank Malaysia (HBMY), HSBC Labuan Offshore Banking Unit(LBU) and HSBC Amanah (HBMS) . The Operations team is responsible for ensuring that all transactions undertaken are processed, promptly documented, accurately recorded, checked and settled in accordance with local regulations and Group guidelines, policies and standards. · Responsible for the timely completion of new product due diligence for all new non vanilla products to ensure that adequate systems/process control procedures are established in line with group standards so as to accurately reflect the bank's total exposure and settlement can be processed efficiently to minimize operational risk. · To lead, plan and control the Global Market Operations team with a view to delivering to the business, Operations that are efficient, cost effective and well controlled and a team that operates at optimum efficiency and high Compliance levels. To ensure that Controls are effective and risk/ control awareness within the teams is high. · To drive the functions strategy as relevant to the location. · To partner with the business and support the business in the delivery of client delivery requirements as relevant to operations while maintaining compliance with regulations, to support the growth initiatives/ new business opportunities and ensure operational readiness to support the same.
Qualifications Requirements · A degree or professional qualification in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics or related business discipline · At least 8 years working experience in banking industry or relevant field · Subject matter expertise in Global Markets business products and risk · Keep abreast of latest financial accounting and regulator requirements and anticipative of impacts to the Bank. · Ability to form effective relationships and achieve influence at the most senior level in the organization. Able to influence without authority. · Communication and interpersonal skills, including the capacity to articulate the case for risk management in the language of business. · Experience of effectively working with regulators and effectively maintain a positive relationship and ability to influence. · Experience of creating, developing and leading a sizeable team. Strong leadership and management ability, developing and motivating employees. · Understanding of the Group global strategies and collaborates with the business to accomplish these strategies. · Astute business acumen · Ability to make robust/tough decisions which may be contrary to the business wishes and ability to prioritize competing demands.
