Reporting to the Head of the Asia Pac Intellectual Property, Operations &Technology (IP O&T) Law Group, and part of the global Law Group operating in APAC (Singapore and Mumbai), EMEA (London, Dublin and Belfast), and the US (New York and Tampa) - this is a role for a senior lawyer (with at least 10 years PQE) based in Singapore to interact with individuals at all levels within Citi to advise on a broad range of Privacy, Outsourcing, Operations and Technology, IP as well as Procurement related issues. The selected candidate should be qualified to practice in Singapore (or other major APAC jurisdiction e.g. Hong Kong) and will be expected to take the lead in providing all aspects of Privacy advice to all APAC businesses, whilst assisting with the management of a team of commercial / procurement lawyers in Mumbai, and working closely with Country Legal Counsel and other colleagues across the APAC region (comprising 17 presence countries) and globally. The role includes advising on a broad range of bank initiatives on aspects of Privacy, Cybersecurity, Information Security, Social Media, Outsourcing and on a range of technology and services arrangements both with affiliates and third parties. Additional responsibilities include (a) provision of legal advice for regional technology and non-technology sourcing for enterprise-wide businesses and global functions including review, negotiation and drafting of services and purchase agreements, licenses, hosting services and other third party service agreements such as for telecom and network infrastructure services, employee related services, Professional and Consultancy Services; (b) advising global market and exchange data management teams on market data contacts and exchange contracts, and related issues such as audit or contentious issues, and negotiating with market data providers and exchanges; (c) advising on bank regulatory compliance and issues for the APAC franchise around Fintech including e.g. Cloud, Distributed Ledgers, AI; (d) advising on general IP related issues for APAC including trademarks and patents; and (e) advising on control and process-related initiatives, as well as assisting with regulatory inspections and audits.
This role requires flexibility to adapt a global model to specific and varied local legal, regulatory and business requirements, often across multiple disciplines. Additional areas of focus including industry body engagement, advising on policy content and impact, working with other team members to revise current and develop new procedures, precedents and related ways of enhancing the provision of legal support, and understanding and ensuring that contracting arrangements are consistent with applicable Citi policies.
