This role would suit a creative thinker with specialist knowledge and interest in the UK AIM market. The successful candidate will be CFA part-qualified and have strong analytical skills based on fundamental rigour. Proficiency in writing and presentation skills is elemental to contribute to creating a culture of excellence, debate and collegiate thinking.
Key responsibilities are:
To contribute to the AIM IHT Portfolio Service and research process:
Initiate research process on target investments
Liaise with brokerage community and other sources to populate pipeline of potential investments and monitor external opinion about Sarasin investee companies
Company visits and attendance of relevant AIM / small cap conferences
Refer potential investments to PWC prior to proposal to purchase to check BPR qualification
Present proposed portfolio activity (purchases / sales) to the AIM Advisory Board for approval prior to execution
Monitor and review holdings through maintenance of up to date research notes in approved format on all investee companies
Input trades for AIM portfolios into Charles River
Work with junior private client team members on AIM research
Active contribution to internal and external communication and business development:
Participation at annual AIM seminar and other AIM marketing events
Attend AIM client meetings when requested by client directors subject to time and availability
Attendance and participation expected at the following:
Daily morning investment meeting
Weekly Private Client meeting
Company meetings with analysts
Fortnightly AIM Advisory Board (frequency TBC)
Participation in the broader UK Equity team investment process:
Active contribution to regular investment team meetings
Work with the team on analysing smaller (non-AIM) UK companies as capacity allows
Ensure openness and integration of AIM process within the wider UK equities process
Required job skills:
Buy/sell side AIM research and portfolio management experience
Specialist knowledge of UK AIM and small cap market
