We are seeking an Associate to join the Macro Research Global Markets Rates team within GIR London. You'll be part of a team that is intellectually curious, creative, analytical, and passionate about performing market research.
Global Investment Research (GIR) provides investment recommendations by generating fundamental research and analysis of economies, markets, industries and companies. GIR colleagues help our clients achieve superior returns by seeking to develop creative, differentiated investment insights and ideas. Our clients include asset managers, hedge funds, mutual funds, and pension funds, among others.
The Macro Research group focuses on the intersection between economics and financial markets across a wide class of assets including equities, options, rates, credit, mortgages, currencies, and commodities.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS HOW YOU WILL FULFIL YOUR POTENTIAL
- Providing macroeconomic forecasting and individual stock analysis - Developing tools and insights to help shape investment strategies for clients and the firm - Working on client-focused research in the equity, fixed-income, currency, and commodities markets, mining big data that enters markets around the world each day to identify game-changing insights - Providing regular written commentary on the rate markets in advanced economies - Compiling ad hoc publications on structural issues relevant to macro rates strategy - Developing and supporting of econometric models - Communicating market views with external clients as well as sales and trading
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES WE ARE LOOKING FOR - Strong academic record with MBA or equivalent required - Prior financial services/investment banking industry experience required - Experience of performing fundamental and quantitative analysis required - Knowledge of FX, equities, commodities, futures, options, global and emerging markets required - Experience of building quantitative/qualitative tools, financial and prediction models required - Demonstrable research/analysis experience in macroeconomic and policy themes required - Experience of evaluating markets required - Knowledge of algorithms, Matlab, Python, Bloomberg/FactSet and proficiency in Excel (including VBA) required - Experience of generating trade ideas and preparing pitch books required - Familiarity with interest rate markets gained in buy/sell side or public institutions required - Excellent verbal and written communication skills required - Attention to detail and strong organisational skills required - Exceptional analytical skills, lateral thinking, and judgment - A proactive approach and the ability to meet aggressive deadlines required
