IFRS 9 is a significant new financial reporting standard that replaces IAS 39. It includes revised guidance on the classification and measurement of financial assets, impairment and new hedge accounting rules. IFRS 9 is effective for annual periods on or after 1 January 2018.
HSBC has a global project in place to implement IFRS 9 across the group's global business lines.
The project phases can be summarized as -
Classification and Measurement - defining and documenting business models, evaluation and system changes required, completion of SPPI testing, design and implementation of SPPI process and controls
Impairment - defining, documenting, and testing models and process used for impairment calculations, booking and reporting
Disclosures - assessing changes to accounting disclosures and implementation of those changes
Parallel Run - testing phasesThis role is for a business analyst to support the overall delivery of the GM PC IFRS 9 project. The role will report to the GVG Interim Head of Non GM business. The role will require completion of tasks as determined by the project plan but will include ensuring documentation is consistent and complete, assistance with drawing up documentation on process and controls, validation and completion of documentation that support decisions, compilation of an overall documentation repository, minutes of meetings, assistance with drawing up BRDs, and providing numerical analysis.
This role is for a Senior Business Analyst to support the overall delivery of the IFRS 9 project. The role will require completion of tasks as determined by the project plan but will include ensuring documentation is consistent and complete, assistance with drawing up documentation on process and controls, validation and completion of documentation that support decisions, compilation of an overall documentation repository, minutes of meetings, assistance with drawing up BRDs, and providing numerical analysis.
Candidates applying must have Wholesale Credit Risk experience and some knowledge of IFRS 9
Understanding of LGD and PD models.
University graduate with numerate degree and/or professional qualification.
Accounting qualification, although this is not essential

Keen sense of urgency - able to achieve results quickly
