Responsibilities: The Manager, Accounting Research & Policies and Transaction Advisory Services will assist in research relating to complicated accounting transactions impacting Moody's and will assist various accounting teams in the implementation of new accounting standards. The Manager, Accounting Policies & Research and Transaction Advisory Services will work closely with senior management of the Company to provide recommendations on the accounting treatment of various transactions impacting Moody's financial statements. The position will also be responsible for maintaining and enhancing Moody's Global Accounting Policies (MGAP) and will assist in determining key assumptions for Moody's defined benefit pension plan. The position will also be responsible for assisting the corporate development team in M&A due diligence, all purchase accounting relating to M&A transactions and quarterly and annual goodwill impairment testing. This position will also assist the financial reporting team with selective disclosures during the quarterly external reporting cycles. Primary responsibilities include:
Research complicated U.S. GAAP transactions that relate to Moody's and provide recommendations and analysis to senior management on the accounting for these transactions
Partner with various accounting teams to ensure that transactions related to new accounting pronouncements are recorded accurately in the Company's general ledger
Assist revenue accounting and general accounting teams in the implementation of the new revenue accounting standard
Assist in implementation of new lease accounting standard
Assist in quarterly U.S. GAAP updates to accounting management
Prepare all hedging documentation relating to the Company's derivatives
Maintain and enhance Moody's Global Accounting Policies (MGAP)
Manage all pension accounting including determining key assumptions with actuaries and treasury group
Assist with accounting and due diligence process for complicated M&A transactions
Assist with annual goodwill impairment process
Work with international subsidiaries on new U.S. GAAP issues
Assist financial reporting team selected disclosures
General Accounting (731000)
Degree in accounting and a minimum of 4 years of experience; large public accounting background or public/private background preferred
Extremely strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, including pension accounting, derivatives, business combinations and revenue recognition
Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate complicated accounting transactions to non-accounting members of senior management
Exceptional writing skills that will be utilized in documenting complicated accounting standards that impact Moody's
