Salary: Competitive London-based Recruitment running from 3rd October 2017 to 31st October 2017. The primarily role of the operational excellence team is to design and execute the operational excellence programme for the Compliance function. The programme is designed for the function to collectively identify opportunities to operate the Compliance function more effectively and efficiently, and then formulate and implement relevant improvements. The improvements could come from enhancing processes, structures, resource levels and allocation, technology utilisation, information quality and availability, and competencies of staff. Due to the expertise of the team, the team will also undertake specific projects at the request of the Compliance Management Team relating to operational excellence outcomes. The purpose of the Director, Compliance, Operational Excellence is to: * Support the Head, Compliance, Operational Excellence in the execution and tracking of the Compliance operational excellence agenda. * Design and execute allocated Operational Excellence reviews identified or at the request of the Compliance Management team in collaboration with relevant stakeholders. * Design and execute specific projects relating to operational excellence outcomes assigned. Execute allocated projects to improve Compliance Effectiveness and Efficiency.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Compliance operational excellence agenda management * Support the Head, Compliance, Operational Excellence to maintain a framework to identify and manage the on-going agenda for operational excellence. This entails periodic communication with the Compliance Management Team or their delegates to prioritise areas of focus. * Communicate agenda items to respective owners and provide guidance on delivering the agenda where relevant. * Track and report the progress of operational excellence initiatives periodically.
Operational excellence reviews Where an operational excellence on-site review is allocated to the operational excellence team, the following activities are required to be executed: * Design the review, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, to ensure the methodology, resources and objectives are agreed prior to execution. * Execute the review, this entails: o Background research - obtaining and reviewing all available information prior to on-site reviews. o Review logistics - ensuring that all relevant stakeholders are included and that the travel plans and meeting schedules are in the correct sequence. o On-site review - meeting with the relevant stakeholders on-site to obtain the information needed to analyse the review objectives. o Documentation - ensuring adequate records management of review materials and meeting notes. * Analyse information from the review to draft a review and recommendation report that is clear and value-adding for the stakeholders to take forward. * Provide guidance to stakeholders on the report recommendations where relevant. * Ensure that review recommendation is added to the Operational Excellence programme tracking.
Projects relating to operational excellence outcome Support the Head, Compliance, Operational Excellence to design and execute projects allocated.
Compliance effectiveness and efficiency projects Support and lead of relevant work streams under Target Operating Model ("TOM") Optimisation. This includes project management, TOM blueprint design, TOM implementation, and benefits realisation reporting.
Qualifications and Skills
* Relevant experience gained within the Financial Services sector with an understanding of risk management and process efficiency, particularly in Compliance (including Financial Crime Compliance). * Ability to conduct end-to-end process reviews and identify process weaknesses from efficiency or risk management perspective. * Ability to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions on efficiency or risk issues. * Strong interpersonal and communication skills and multi cultural awareness and sensitivity. * Ability to operate within a geographically dispersed and highly varied stakeholder base. * Ability to collaborate and work dynamically across country, region, business and group stakeholders. * Ability to effectively prioritise multiple tasks in a high pressure environment. * Exemplary integrity, ethics, independence and resilience. * Strong project management and organisational skills. * Advanced analytical and numerical skills. * Ability to handle sensitive matters at all levels of the organisation with discretion and confidentiality. * While not mandatory, legal training and working experience will be an added advantage for this role * Desirable to speak an Asian, African or Middle-eastern language. * . * Must have experience in the following roles and/or business areas: o Strategy & planning role in the corporate banking business o Client due-diligence process re-engineering role with subject matter expertise for on-boarding standards for corporate banking o Assessing reputational and AML risk for politically exposed and high risk clients ( global coverage across all businesses lines), and recommending appropriate risk management controls to senior management and relevant oversight committees o Support the build out and delivery of a financial crime compliance programme covering at AML and Sanctions for at least a region o Monitor liaison experience to manage remediation requirements for deferred prosecution agreement with US regulators o Fluent in English
