We currently have two exciting opportunities to join Willis Towers Watson's manager research team in London.
Analyst role: Focused on alternative credit / real assets
Consultant role: Primary focus across traditional credit (Global Fixed Income, Absolute Return Bond and Emerging Markets Debt).
As a manager researcher, you will be involved in interviewing some of the most highly respected credit investment managers in the world, helping to form robust opinions on such areas as investment skill and working with our clients’ objectives. The team operates holistically across the credit spectrum therefore there is also an opportunity to work across areas including smart beta, alternative and illiquid credit dependent on specific candidate qualifications.
As a member of the Fixed Income (Credit) research team, you will be expected to develop our intellectual know-how, become a subject matter expert on the Fixed Income asset class and also remain heavily engaged in financial market developments. For a candidate with real asset experience (or interest in real assets), you will be exposed to both sides of real asset investing (equity and debt), a key role bridging these two areas of research. You will develop a close working relationship with our internal research, strategy and portfolio management teams to assist in the development of best in class specialist and multi-sector fixed income solutions. These views are documented and communicated to clients both directly through face-to-face meetings and via research reports. We are continually looking for best ideas, applying asset class, manager and strategic views to develop new and innovative solutions for our clients around the world thus creativity, a strong knowledge of the fixed income markets and desire to improve solutions for clients will be necessary.

Ability to analyse qualitative data to form an initial opinion on a manager or strategy. Excellent oral and written communication skills and presentation skills. Well-organised and detail-oriented. Flexibility and proven ability to diagnose and resolve issues; strong client service orientation. Interest and ability to think beyond the task at hand and understand how one’s work fits into the broader landscape. Knowledge of the markets and/or fixed income investments. Graduate, not necessarily in a mathematical or business discipline, but evidence of mathematical ability is required. Progress in CFA or other professional qualification an advantage, willingness to undertake the CFA essential.
Consultant: Six or more years of credit management, research or asset class experience (fund of funds, consulting or portfolio management); global sovereign, global aggregate and/or emerging market debt experience preferred; candidates with alternative credit (high yield, bank loans, securitised credit, long/short), illiquid credit and smart beta will also be considered. Experience of qualitative data collection and assimilation, and its use in opinion forming and the provision of advice. Sound understanding of credit risk analysis, and general credit / bond pricing methodologies.
