About Global Operations Operations is the engine responsible for ensuring the execution and servicing of all products and services. Overall purpose of role The role holder will be responsible to provide business management support to the stakeholders of Operations in Asia. The Operations organisation in Asia includes all functions under Global Market Operations (GMO), Corporate & IB Operations (CIB Ops), Shared Operations and Risk Control and Regulatory Management (RCRM). The role holder will face off with Directors and VPs from these functions to provide support from a Business Management perspective, including but not limited to headcount management, financial and cost management, strategy and planning, communications and governance. The role holder will also support stakeholders to execute on initiatives driven from both a global function and regional function perspective.
Provide Business Management support to Asia Operations directors, including but not limited to including but not limited to workforce/ resource planning & management, financial and cost management, strategy and planning, communications and governance.
Provide accurate and updated headcount information to regional functional directors and present them with a holistic view of current situation for management oversight and decision making.
Develop and drive accountability for financial management and timely & accurate reporting processes, working with the respective Finance Business Partners to provide cost transparency at a regional level. Effectively support the management of cost within the department whilst delivery quality of service.
Partner with regional functional directors to ensure that any global cost target/challenge is understood clearly with a clear execution plan.
Support regional directors in strategy and planning (e.g. Medium Term Planning, Location Strategy, and Utility Strategy), ensuring that APAC strategies are aligned globally, and act to execute on these strategies.
Ensure that all employees of Asia Operations are adhering to firm wide policies such as MBL and Mandatory Training, and managing any required exceptions or escalations.
Act as the 'go-to' person for any ad-hoc queries regarding functions from an Asia Ops business management perspective, engaging closely and being the conduit between global and regional teams.
Stakeholder Management and Leadership
Key stakeholders for the Business Management team include internal clients who are the Asia functional leads of operations teams across GMO, CIB Ops, Shared Operations and RCRM. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills are required.
Decision-making and Problem Solving
The role requires a clear and logical mindset with an ability to analyse complex scenarios (such as workforce/ resource and financials) and provide logical and innovative recommendations for execution and problem-solving. The role holder should have experience interacting with multi-functional teams in a global setup and have a proven track record of multi-tasking capabilities.
Risk and Control Objective Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards.
Person Specification The role holder should be confident and have the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders from Analyst/ AVP level to management at the VP, Director and MD level. The successful candidate should also demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to negotiate and influence. The successful candidate should also demonstrate desire and capability to challenge the 'as-is', and is highly collaborative to drive changes across the organisation.
