We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Senior Tax Manager, Regional Advisory.
In this role, you will
Ensure HSBC Tax Transparency risk management and control framework is effectively deployed as part of the HSBC Global Standards to ensure HSBC services are not associated with any arrangements which are known or suspected to be designed to facilitate tax evasion by customers and whoever is acting for and on behalf of HSBC.
Interpret legislative and regulatory requirements to enable its practical and pragmatic applications within banking environments.
Provide commercial and pragmatic business advice and solutions regarding operating models, such as processes, controls and governance, and implement effective compliance whilst facilitating businesses to operate within the rules. Acting as an effective conduit between requirements and other stakeholder considerations.
Work with Group businesses and functions, including Group Tax, in the implementation of relevant obligations.
Proactively manage risks, anticipate and escalate risks and issues for senior stakeholders attention. Advice and implement robust mitigation measures, and provide ongoing review and assessment of the performance.
Support, guide and oversight local teams on advisory, implementation. Assist in ensuring there is appropriate effective training programs in place so that all colleagues have the necessary skill sets to both support business and execution of the Group strategies and objectives.
Collaborate with, manage, deliver, and support internal and external assurance programs and audits according to bank assurance review methodology and standards.
Proactive support of external lobby and related initiatives.
Undertake other new and emerging tax and related projects and reviews as required.
Protect the reputation of HSBC organization and businesses in the jurisdictions in which it operates.
To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements
Solid overall industry experience is desirable in areas such as banking, financial services, and insurance.
Specifically, a qualified tax professional with deep subject matter expertise in Tax Evasion or Avoidance Risk Advisory, ideally gained from international professional service firms or large financial institutions.
Strong advisory skills with excellent engagement at senior stakeholder levels. Candidate background may include business, tax, governance, risk and compliance within consulting or industry.
Demonstrated ability to help deliver change and sustain ongoing compliance in regulatory, complex matrix, distributed and multidisciplinary team environments within regional and global advisory or financial services organizations.
Familiar with banking operating models such as process, controls, and risks, for retail banking, wealth management, private banking, commercial banking, and insurance.
Regional management experience is desirable.
Some experience with assurance reviews and audits.
Knowledge of and experience with antimoney laundering and other financial crimes, and operational risk management would be an advantage.
Effective negotiator, computer literate and capable of project management. Highly effective communication and presentation skills.
Ability to work under pressure to demanding deadlines, like external legislative milestones.
Self starter with excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills.
