The HSBC Group in Luxemburg is a significant employer and operates several businesses including asset management, securities services, private banking and corporate banking.
In order to strengthen our Luxembourg team, we are looking to recruit a:
Advise more specifically the asset management business within a team of 4 lawyers acting for a global banking group
Provide day to day transactional (and where required litigation) support to various businesses in the negotiation of legal documents including investment management agreements, distribution agreements, fund depositary and administration agreements, and any related ancillary documentation for all client sectors including UCITS investment funds and alternative investment funds
Provide pre- and post-signing support where relevant to client service managers and the sales & business development teams
Provide subject matter and legal expertise to the Luxembourg General Counsel in the formulation of standards and guidance, policies, procedures and controls for the management of legal risks where relevant for the global businesses in Luxembourg, working on global projects as required
Contribute actively to all applicable business governance meetings including the business acceptance committee, risk management committee, regulatory change project meetings and any other ad hoc or relevant committees
Work alongside and build strong relationships with colleagues in Legal (locally and on a global basis) and other functions or businesses
Work closely with the business and strategy teams on new product launches, changes to templates and understand market developments
Work with the Global Asset Management legal team on local and global legal issues that affect the asset management business.
Coordinate legal projects, remediation exercises etc.
Be a trusted legal adviser to the senior business management teams at both a regional and global level.
Be an active contributor to the global legal practice groups where relevant
Job-holder will be part of a 4 lawyers team in HSBC Luxembourg Legal in Luxembourg City
Professional skills and experience:
Strong knowledge of European investment funds related rules and regulations (e.g. UCITS Directive, AIFMD, EMIR, PRIIPS) including Luxembourg laws, acquired either in private practice or in-house (minimum of 6-8 years) within an international group, with an investment manager, fund or management company.
Experienced and confident practitioner
Able to handle a diverse range of legal and regulatory issues in various areas beyond funds law
Self-starter, independent with good organisational skills and ability to prioritise effectively
Excellent communication, negotiation and inter-personal skills
Lateral thinking/problem solving
Stamina and ability to work under pressure and within time constraints
Ability to deal with highly confidential and commercially sensitive information with discretion
Ability to manage competing internal stakeholder relationships
Ability to accurately identify, convey and manage legal risk
Work closely with other members of the Luxembourg legal team and ensure that members of the team with less expertise are updated and take care of current and emerging legal risks
Experience in controlling external legal costs and managing relationships with external legal counsels would be an additional skill highly appreciated
Fluent in both French and English.
