To be part of a team of credit control analysts responsible for the Lombard book
Support sustainable growth if the UK Lombard financing loan book.
Continuously optimize credit- and credit-related procedures and processes, risk control tools and IT systems.
Participate and/or lead projects related to product enhancements, regulatory requirements or process improvements.
Responsible for the analysis, approval, documentation and processing of Lombard credit requests, whilst implementing appropriate credit structures.
Proactive management of the standard Lombard, structured Lombard (including single-stock lending) and derivatives credit portfolio whilst having a broad understanding of asset/sectors and clients.
Overview of the department / team (team size, backgrounds, personalities ...):
The current CRM team has 5 Real estate officers (AVP - VP), and 2 Lombard officers (AVP). Sitting within CRM, but independent thereof, are 2 Credit Control officers, who are responsible for the final control checks before facilities are marked as available, and who are responsible for the majority of monitoring and reporting to Group and the UK entity.
All Lombard officers have a background from other wealth management/private banking lenders.
Challenges Contractor will be facing in this role:
Credit is a main factor of the profitability of the firm, and there is a big push on promoting Lombard (and Real Estate) lending in 2017/8. Whilst some RMs are competent at selling credit, a large number are not, and CRM are regularly involved in hand-holding/explaining the process.
A review of our end-to-end processes/policy and procedures is under way, which may lead to changes, and also a shift of responsibilities within the process from CRM (2nd line of defence) to the Front Office (1st line of defence). As such, there may be some change during the term of the contract.
Essentials Skills and Qualifications:
Highly numerate with the ability to analyse financial statements, structure complex lending solutions and process high volumes of new credit requests within strict time lines.
Degree or equivalent
Has worked in an equivalent sized private bank / wealth management environment (+5 years)
Experience in Lombard lending (Consumer Credit and structured lending (single-stock, concentrated portfolios, lending to operating companies))
Experience in real estate lending wold be advantageous, but is not essential.
Competent to make decisions and lead by example
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
Ensure continuous optimization of credit and credit-related procedures, processes, risk control tools and IT systems, in daily business and through lead in projects. Facilitate development of local credit offering, implementation of new products and support other initiatives
Business partner with Lending Specialist, Front Office and Management to support sustainable and controlled growth of the credit portfolio while providing lending and structural solutions.
Able to interface with senior management and present complex solutions in a structured and professional manner
Experience in project work (individually or as part of a team), including liaison with IT and undertaking user acceptance testing would be preferable
Experience in real estate lending would be advantageous, but is not essential.
