Position Overview The APAC Regulatory Relationship Manager (APAC-RRM) will be responsible for working with the regional Corporate Compliance Officers and key stakeholders to help foster and maintain strong relationships with the key APAC regulators within Bank of America Merrill Lynch:
Hong Kong: HKMA and SFC
The APAC-RRM will work collaboratively and effectively with the APAC Country Compliance Officers in the region. The APAC-RRM will report directly into Global Regulatory Relations and have dotted line reporting to the APAC Regional Compliance Executive.
Role Description The general scope of responsibilities for the APAC-RRM includes but is not limited to:
Staying abreast of industry trends and APAC regulator activities;
Serving as the key liaison with Global Regulatory Relations; and
Working closely with the APAC CCOs:
Identifying key staff within the regulators for engagements and routines;
ensuring that appropriate relationships are developed across all APAC regulators;
identifying and communicating regulatory themes and developments obtained through routines, exams, publications and analyses;
Developing (or co-developing) executive-level briefings on key APAC regulators and activities; and
Proactively identifying trends and events that could impact bank activities.
Key Skill Requirements
Minimum of 5 - 7 years of relationship management experience, preferably managing regulatory relationships
A senior-level lawyer, compliance officer/manager, and/or financial services leader with deep knowledge of business banking, securities and applicable regulations.
Sound knowledge of key industry regulations and rules
Strong communication (both written and oral) and presentation skills, including ability to prepare and present executive-level briefings
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop key relationships and work across the company to engage and influence business leaders across the APAC region.
