As part of Global Risk, Regulatory Compliance ensures adherence to applicable regulations and standards by setting the policies which cover HSBC's regulatory requirements, and mitigate conduct and reputational risk issues. The team strives to remain ahead of the regulatory change agenda and ensures the business understands the implications and is prepared for change. It monitors how the Global Businesses and Functions manage their responsibilities with regard to complying with the regulations and helps resolve compliance deficiencies.
We are currently recruiting for a newly created position within a team responsible for all aspects of conflicts management. Whilst a good proportion of the role will be operational (Conflicts approvals, Conflicts process administration, restricted list management, MI, Breach Administration and issue escalation etc), there will also be a lot of scope for involvement with projects around Transactional conflicts clearance, Governance framework and Policy management. For the right candidate, this could quickly develop into a people management position.
The GBM RC Control Room Advisory Manager will be accountable for building robust compliance coverage for Regulatory Compliance (RC) for all relevant business lines and products, as per their defined remit:
Setting policies and standards to cover compliance issues
Advising line management of the impact on their businesses and functions of applicable external or internal regulations
Supporting line management in discharging their responsibilities to comply with applicable regulations (e.g. by reviewing new products/activities for compliance implications, identifying potential rule breaches, enforcing changes to relevant manuals to reflect regulatory requirements, monitoring the businesses for adherence to the regulations and providing input to audit and training programmes)
Assisting line management in the conduct of "crisis" management (e.g. ad hoc investigations into rule breaches)
Providing an independent reporting mechanism for all executives
Fostering good relations with the regulators
To be successful in the role, it is likely that you should meet the following requirements:
Strong experience working in the global financial services industry
Experienced with operating in a global regulatory environment.
Previous Control Room experience in a Financial Services institution
Understanding of the purpose, value, culture and fundamentals of the Regulatory Compliance function.
Proven track record of managing change in a global regional and local structure.
Highly experienced in dealing with senior and executive sponsors and rationalizing across differing priorities.
Experience of interpreting and analysing a large volume of information and / or data and providing succinct summary for management.
Strong written communication skills demonstrated by a history of writing reports, policies and other such documentation.
Ability to work effectively under pressure with competing and rapidly changing priorities.
